Renovations to a Victorian Farmhouse

Designed and built a custom kitchen with many Victorian elements such as ornate brackets, beaded panels and glass upper cabinet doors.  The mudroom was renovated into a formal entryway, changing the stairway orientation to allow better kitchen access.  The stairway renovation used many parts from a period staircase removed from a building that was to be gutted.  The other side of the original mudroom became a back entry with utility cabinets and a sink.  Renovations to the living room included a custom window seat, bookcases, corner mantle and hearth, period moldings and hardwood hickory floors with a border and accent strip that follows the contours of the room.  All work was in keeping with a period Victorian Home.

An arch above the sink is flanked by custom-built kitchens cabinets with antique glass doors.  The arch allows views through a window in the next room.  An eating bar in the kitchen extends from the lower cabinets and is supported by ornate brackets, with a cookbook shelf and a drawer at the end of the cabinet.  The kitchen also features a porcelain prep sink, a sliding drawer for trays using the space next to the refrigerator and a pull out kitchen desk with tambour doors to conceal the desk and a bar set-up.

The back entry has a large custom-built cabinet with big drawers lined with plastic to hold pet food, and a large antique utility sink with a pedestal.

The bay window in the living room is flanked by custom-built matching bookcases.  The crown molding at the top matches the original plaster crown, making the bookshelves look like an original part of the house.
